This article reveals an important feature of the phenomenon of subjectivity in order to answer the ethical question regarding the point at which the subject destroys herself in voluntarily manipulating her brain. The article draws out the difference between experience and the content of an experience. Both features of subjectivity are based on a theological platform which is called the «feeling of utter dependency” (Friedrich Schleiermacher). Subjects are permitted to manipulate themselves with view to the content of their experiences. On the other hand, they destroy themselves when the touch the process of experience and play God. | ||
| 520 | |a Die Neurowissenschaften haben erhebliche Zweifel an der Autonomie menschlicher Entscheidungen geschaffen. Dadurch beflügeln sie die Praxis des Neuroenhancements, durch pharmazeutische oder medizinische Mittel die Gehirntätigkeit für die menschliche Leistungsfähigkeit zu verbessern. Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt ein Kennzeichen des Subjektivitätsphänomens, um die ethische Frage zu beantworten, ab wann ein Subjekt seine Subjektivität zerstört, wenn es sein Gehirn willentlich manipuliert. Hierfür wird die Differenz zwischen dem Erleben und dem Erlebnisgehalt in Geltung gebracht. Beide Elemente der Subjektivität haben eine theologische Basis, die sich mit Schleiermachers Formel »schlechthinniges Abhängigkeitsgefühl« benennen lässt. Subjekte sind berechtigt, sich selbst zu manipulieren im Hinblick auf ihre Erlebnisgehalte. Dagegen zerstören sie sich selbst, wenn sie auch den Prozess des Erlebens antasten, und spielen Gott. | ||
