AB This study examines the adaptations introduced into the General Instruction of the Roman Missal by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. Where appropriate, comparisons are made with similar adaptations promulgated by the conferences of bishops for Australia, England and Wales, Scotland, and the United States of America. The first section provides some general remarks about the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, particularly its history and evolution. The second section discusses the various types of liturgical adaptations in light of the Second Vatican Council and the 1983 Code of Canon Law. The third and final section focuses primarily on the various opportunities for adapting the General Instruction of the Roman Missal and identifying how this has or has not occurred in Canada.
AB La présente étude traite des adaptations apportées à la Présentation générale du Missel romain par la Conférence des évêques catholiques du Canada. Là où cela convient, on procède à des comparaisons avec des adaptations du même genre qui ont été promulguées par les conférences des évêques de l'Australie, de l'Angleterre et du Pays de Galles, de l'Écosse et des États-Unis d'Amérique. Dans la première section, on formule des remarques d'ordre général au sujet de la Présentation générale du Missel romain, surtout en ce qui a trait à son histoire et à son évolution. Dans la deuxième section, il est question de divers types d'adaptations liturgiques qui se sont dégagées à la lumière du Deuxième concile du Vatican et du Code de droit canonique de 1983. La troisième et dernière section porte principalement sur diverses occasions qui s'offrent d'adapter la Présentation générale du Missel romain, pour comprendre comme il se fait que ceci s'est produit, ou non, au Canada.
