The Ringkomposition detected in Qoheleth 3,10-15 recapitulates the themes found in the first part of the Preacher’s book. This leads to a detailed study of the context in which א ת־נרדף in 3,15b is located. After an overview of the various translations and meanings given to the enigmatic phrase over the centuries, both its temporal context and the semantic associations of רדף with wind strengthen the link back to the book’s opening poem (1,4-11) and Qoheleth’s use of the term הבל . |
