All four approaches agree in acknowledging that the author of 1 Peter depicts the Church as part of Israel as God's elected people. Israel is not disinherited by the Church, rather the latter partakes of the people of Israel. The concept of "rebirth" is not thought of as baptism of the individual but is imagined as the believer's transition into the Jewish people of God. | ||
