Der Beitrag thematisiert diese Entwicklung, deren Höhepunkt das extrem reduzierte Menschenbild eines „Homo Oeconomicus“ darstellt, als Preis, der für die Wissenschaftlichkeit der ökonomischen Theorie bezahlt wurde. Doch dieser Preis ist hoch. Diese Art der Wissenschaftlichkeit, die ihren Ausdruck in immer abstrakteren Modellen der Realität und immer zweifelhafterer Anwendbarkeit findet, birgt zum einen das Risiko des Trugschlusses der unzutreffenden Konkretheit („Fallacy of Misplaced Concreteness“) im Sinne Whiteheads. Darüber hinaus besteht das akute Risiko, aufgrund dieses Trugschlusses zu falschen und mitunter gefährlichen wirtschaftspolitischen Entscheidungen zu kommen. Als Alternative wird ein Menschenbild erläutert, welches den Menschen als geistbegabtes, zu autonomem Handeln fähiges Wesen begreift. Dieses Menschenbild wird abschließend mit der Prozessphilosophie von Alfred N. Whitehead in Beziehung gebracht | ||
| 520 | |a For a long time economic theory has been haunted by a phenomenon which I call dehumanization and which implies dramatic consequences. The paper thematises this development that culminates in an extremely simplified image of man called “homo oeconomicus” – the price paid for the recognition of the scientific nature of economic theory. However, this kind of scientific nature, which is characterized by increasingly abstract model analysis with doubtable practicability, involves two dangers. One of them is the so-called “Fallacy of Misplaced Concreteness” in the sense of Whitehead. Moreover, there is the risk of making wrong and even dangerous decisions in the field of economic policy. The alternative – as argued in this paper – is a concept of man endowed with mind and able to act autonomously. This concept of man is finally related to the process philosophy of Alfred N.
