The focus, however, is on what we do not yet know about the Arnhem sermons: we do not the precise composition of the group of women the sermons were addressed to, nor do we know who the author was, or at what occasion the texts might have been read or discussed. We cannot even be sure whether the author was a woman or a man. At the present time the collection of Arnhem Mystical Sermons constitutes a category-of-one: a collection of original sixteenth-century mystical sermons in Middle Dutch. | ||
