More precisely: the event of God, completely arrived and accepted in this world by Jesus Christ. This event of an encounter with God in Christ authorizes the addressees of Jesus to accept the self-revealing God in a deeper way. They can become a kairos to others – or they can refuse the kairos. In this dramatic view, the offer of salvation and the announcement of judgment are close together, as told in Luke 4:16–30 in an exemplary way. Based on such an understanding of kairos, the presence and future of the kingdom of God – as well as realized and future eschatology – appear no longer as mutually exclusive. | ||
