Résumé:This paper is divided into four sections: Section I describes some theoretical aspects of an Islamic financial and banking system. Section II reviews the implementation of the new system in the Islamic Republic of Iran and in Pakistan. Section III identifies certain problems that have hindered or could hinder the effective implementation of the new system. Section IV summarizes the analysis and conclusions of the paper. The appendix reproduces laws and regulations governing Islamic banking in the Islamic Republic of Iran. (DÜI-Sdt)
