| Summary: | The Philistines as one group of the so-called Sea Peoples settled in the south of Palestine at the end to the 2nd millennium, but recently hieroglyphic Luwian texts from northern Syria provided new information that Philistines also settled in northern Syria. So the question arises anew if we can detect Anatolian elements in the Philistine culture and if the Philistines can also be taken as intermediaries of Anatolian ideas to Israel. The little material evidence which is available does not allow far reaching conclusions but it shows in several cases that cultural contacts occurred between Anatolia and Palestine. Die Philister als Teil der „Seevölker“ sind mehrfach im Alten Testament genannt; aus hieroglyphen-luwischen Texten vom Ende des 2. Jahrtausends ist in letzter Zeit deutlich geworden, dass auch im nordsyrischen Raum mit der Anwesenheit von Philistern zu rechnen ist. Daraus ergibt sich erneut die Frage nach dem „anatolischen“ Anteil an den Philistern und den Möglichkeiten, ob die biblische Überlieferung zu den Philistern ebenfalls Spuren davon erkennen lässt, dass durch diese Bevölkerungs-gruppen anatolisches Gedankengut nach Palästina gekommen ist. Das karge Material erlaubt zwar keine umfangreichen Schlussfolgerungen, zeigt aber in Einzelfällen die Existenz von Kulturkontakten zwischen Palästina und Anatolien. |
