AB Some Indian and western intellectuals question the value of secularism for India. With an empirical study in Muzaffarnagar district (Uttar Pradesh), a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP, a rightwing Hindu party), G. Lieten refutes this argument.
