Each seeks in its own way to examine the work of Paul Ramsey and to illustrate the enduring relevance of his work today, almost fifty years after the publication of Patient as Person. In this issue, Melissa Moschella relies on Ramsey's discussion of death and organ donation to reflect on current issues of public trust in bioethical matters; Patrick Smith engages Ramsey on euthanasia; Daniel Strand mines that concept so central to Ramsey's work, covenant, and applies it to current considerations of euthanasia; Bryan Pilkington places Ramsey's arguments against the selling of organs in dialogue with new arguments in favor of that practice; and, most helpfully, Gilbert Meilaender frames the issue with a short, reflective, intellectual biography of the man.
