| 520 | |a This essay pursues a question of relationship between the accounts of the annihilation of the Egyptian and Neo-Assyrian armies detailed in Exodus 14 and 2Kings 18–19 respectively. It begins by observing several points of thematic, linguistic, and historical similarity. It is proposed that inner-biblical typology may describe the relationship between the accounts, whereby the Exodus narrative provides the intellectual and theological framework to understand the Kings narrative. Subsequently, Bradd Shore’s scheme regarding the creation of familial identity through different types of memory is also considered as an anthropological supplement to an otherwise literary phenomenon. This essay ends by entertaining some literary-critical implications associated with this proposal. | ||

Il commence par observer différentes similarités thématiques, linguistiques et historiques. Une typologie intra-biblique peut permettre de décrire la relation entre les deux récits, en démontrant que le récit de l’Exode constitue le cadre intellectuel et théologique pour comprendre le récit du livre des Rois. La théorie de Bradd Shore sur la création d’identités familiales à travers différents types de mémoires complète la lecture de ce phénomène littéraire d’un point de vue anthropologique. Cet essai se termine en envisageant quelques implications de critique littéraire associées à cette proposition. | ||
