En revenant aux fondements de cette métaphysique, la définition des concepts de Bien et de Mal est révisée afin de sortir ces concepts de l’anesthésie dans laquelle une compréhension trop stricte de la métaphysique a tendance à les enfermer. Cet ajustement change ainsi la perspective d’approche des questions du Bien et du Mal, qui ne sont ainsi plus des absolus, ce qui rend la question de la théodicée à nouveau pertinente malgré la suppression de l’attribut divin de la toute-puissance. L’article propose ainsi de faire primer la vision d’un Dieu « poète du monde » (Whitehead) sur celle d’un juge froid qui ne fait que choisir en toute circonstance un Bien objectif et universel, réduisant par là même le mal à un facteur trivial de l’expérience. | ||
| 520 | |a The default interpretation among Process thinkers regarding theodicy has been to eliminate divine omnipotence from the equation. Exploring the foundations of this metaphysic, the present article seeks a revised definition of the concepts of Good and Evil, in order to retrieve their deeper meaning, beyond certain limitations which come from all-too strict interpretations of metaphysics. As a consequence of this adjustment, Good and Evil are seen in a different way: they no longer are absolutes. The question of theodicy thus becomes once again relevant, despite the suppression of the divine attribute of omnipotence. Theology may need to focus on God as “poet of the world” (Whitehead), rather than as cold judge who, in each circumstance, only chooses an objective and universal Good, thereby rendering evil a trivial factor in our experience. | ||
