Summary: | Bronze stands documenting a highly developed bronze working tradition of the Late Bronze Age Eastern Mediterranean are rare in Ras Shamra - Ugarit. Three specimens belong to the so-called cast tripods group, one of them unpublished. The group of the offering stands is illustrated by one item. Finally, two small bronze wheels, from two different sectors of the tell of Ras Shamra, may support the existence of either models of bronze chariot or four-sided wheeled stands. The study presents the objects illustrating contacts between the island of Cyprus and the Levantine coast and confronts the archaeological evidence to the textual documentation. |
