| Summary: | À partir de la difficulté à trancher sur la réalité historique du personnage dont Marot fait l'éloge dans son « épitaphe de Pierre de Villiers », l'article met au jour un certain nombre de dissonances, d'incohérences et de contradictions qui invitent le lecteur à dépasser l'hypothèse de la simple accumulation d'inadvertances pour envisager un discours tenu en réalité sur la fonction poétique elle-même, dans ses rapports avec la destinée individuelle. Starting from the difficulty to check the historic reality of the man who is praised by Clément Marot in his Epitaph to Pierre de Villiers, this paper reveals progressively some other oddities, inconsistencies and contradictions inside the text, which allows the reader to go beyond the hypothesis of accumulated signs of neglect, to consider that the function of the poetry is the real subject of the epitaph, as it is linked with individual destiny. |
