La volonté d'enrichissement du français passe par une valorisation des dialectes. C'est à Rabelais principalement que revient l'initiative d'avoir développé l'emploi des termes dialectaux dans son œuvre. L'épisode du banquet des Gastrolâtres offre ainsi un exemple remarquable de l'abondance des régionalismes. Par ailleurs, les régionalismes sont nombreux dans le contreblason du couillon du Tiers livre. Il est notoire que le signifiant est valorisé, dans ce chapitre, au détriment du signifié et ce fait interdit toute réduction du langage à l'instrumentalisme. Rabelais semble ainsi s'émanciper du modèle humaniste de copia, en poussant à l'extrême l'exubérance verbale. En dernière analyse, c'est le français avec ses variétés régionales qui se révèle être la source inépuisable de l'écriture chez Rabelais. | ||

The will to enrich the French language showed itself through the valorisation of local dialects. Through his writings, Rabelais was the main initiator of the development of the use of dialectal terms. The banquet of the Gastrolâtres is a remarkable example of the abundance of those regionalisms. Moreover, regionalisms are frequent in the contreblason du couillon of the Third Book. The signifier is highlighted to the detriment of the signified, forbidding any reduction of language to instrumentalism. Rabelais thus seems to emancipate himself from the humanist model of copia, pushing verbal exuberance to the limit. In the end, French with all its regional varieties appears to be an inexhaustible source for Rabelais' writing. | ||
