| Summary: | Cet article présente un court aperçu de l'histoire de l'impression de la Bible en allemand et en anglais à l'aube de la Réforme. En mettant en contraste la situation dans le Saint-Empire romain germanique et celle de l'Angleterre au début du XVIe siècle, l'article fait valoir que, bien que leurs textes soient très proches les uns des autres sur un plan linguistique, la Bible anglaise et son homologue allemande ont un destin très différent durant la première période réformatrice, pour des raisons historiques, politiques et personnelles., This article provides a brief view of the history of printing the Bible in German and English just before the Reformation. By contrasting the situation in the Germanic Holy Roman Empire and in early 16th-century England, the article brings out the fact that, in spite of the similarity of the texts on a linguistic level, the English Bible and its German counterpart were to have quite different fates during the first period of the Reformation for historical, political and personal reasons. |
