Those they considered to be illegitimate (Bethel) were presented as idolatrous (1 Kgs 12). In the Pentateuch, which is also a compromise between priestly and deuteronomistic ideologies, Lev 17 tries to harmonize between the diversity of yahwistic sanctuaries and the deuteronomistic idea of cult centralization. | ||
