| Summary: | This article analyses 343 comments on the ORF's Facebook page concerning remarks on migration made by the Austrian politician Sebastian Kurz. Based on argumentation theory, the corpus has been divided into three groups: pro Kurz and the closing of the migration route over the Mediterranean Sea, against Kurz and the closing of the route and against Kurz but pro closing of the route. Additionally, the comments have been categorized based on thematic patterns (topoi). The results do not support the common assumption regarding hate speech on the internet, although the debate can be characterized as impertinent and abbreviated. Various discourse-analytic implications concerning the migration topic in Austria are discussed. Der Beitrag untersucht 343 Kommentare auf der Nachrichten-Facebook-Seite des ORF im Kontext politischer Äußerungen des österreichischen Politikers Sebastian Kurz zu den Migrationsbewegungen über das Mittelmeer. Auf Basis argumentationstheoreti- scher Überlegungen wurde das Korpus in drei Lager eingeteilt: pro Kurz und Schließung der Mittelmeerroute, kontra Kurz und Schließung der Mittelmeerroute und kontra Kurz, aber pro Schließung der Mittelmeerroute. Zudem wurden die Kommentare nach thematischen Mustern (Topoi) kategorisiert. Die Ergebnisse liefern keine Unterstützung für Hasssprache, wenngleich die Debattenführung als eher unsachlich und verkürzt zu charakterisieren ist. Diskursanalytische Implikationen der Migrationsthematik in Österreich werden besprochen. |
