RT Article T1 Doing Theology after the TRC JF Toronto journal of theology VO 33 IS 2 SP 295 OP 301 A1 Andraos, Michel LA English YR 2017 UL https://ixtheo.de/Record/157657590X AB Many Canadians, including the leadership of the mainline churches, are still trying to come to grips with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and its Calls to Action as they rethink the colonial foundation of both the Canadian state and the churches. Given the role of Canadian mainline Christianity and the churches in this history, the work of unmasking the colonial theology that sustained the “evangelizing and civilizing” foundational projects of the state and the violence they produced becomes an urgent theological task that is yet to be tackled seriously. With a primary focus on the Catholic context, after a brief historical survey this article considers some of the key theological questions inspired by Indigenous voices and proposals that theology after the TRC can no longer ignore.
