L'analyse permet de mettre en évidence les divers enjeux de la taxinomie selon les périodes : si aux iie-iiie siècles elle est notamment utilisée pour inscrire la présence des chrétiens dans le paysage religieux de l'Empire, au ive siècle elle devient une manière d'organiser le monde et d'imposer une nouvelle vision de la religion dans l'administration de l'Empire. | ||

As a new weapon of Christian rhetoric and thought, this schema was defined during the first centuries of our time, when Christian authors tried to separate religious identity from other aspects of social and political life. The analysis reveals the function of this taxonomy over different periods : while in the 2nd-3rd century, it is particularly used to inscribe the presence of Christians into the religious landscape of the Empire, in the 4th century it becomes a way of organising the world and of establishing a new vision of religion in the administration of the Empire. | ||
