520 |a The evils of war, economic globalisation, religious fundamentalism, the culture of materialism and the spectre of increasing poverty pose some of the greatest challenges today to the survival of humanity. Holistic/spiritual education is proposed as a timely strategy to help people, especially the young, to know and transcend themselves, and to create a culture of harmony and loving relationships. Some of the questions raised, against this backdrop, are the following: What is spirituality? What is spiritual intelligence? How do we know whether a person has spiritual intelligence? What are the various approaches to spiritual education? Do we need to change our attitude towards people of other religions? What plan of action can we adopt to promote spiritual education? Is common prayer essential? Are there any specific characteristics for the spirituality of young people?
