I am pleased to offer a few remarks in response, prefaced by the fact that I teach at a Jesuit university. So I am well aware of the historical divide between religion and science, each using their own specific methods to establish truths. Religion, as I understand it, is usually rooted in faith and scripture, and therefore does not require irrefutable proof, whereas science assumes that God is irrelevant to our understanding of nature and adheres to rigorous and repeatable scientific methods to establish its theories and hypotheses.
