Summary: | The God Delusion has been a popular best-seller. It launches a no-holds-barred attack on religious belief, particularly Christian theistic belief, by an author celebrated as a scientific populariser. It has attracted a number of rebuttals from theologically-informed writers drawing attention to deficiencies in its arguments, yet none of these appears to have achieved the same level of public attention. This article compares and contrasts five such responses, and offers some comments on the effectiveness of this kind of response to Dawkins' polemics. |
