| Summary: | Der vorliegende Aufsatz ist der Versuch, den Grundriss einer gesellschaftlich engagierten Theologie vorzulegen – mit Hilfe eines erneut profilierten Begriffs der Hoffnung. Dabei geht es nicht primär um den konkreten Zuschnitt jenes Engagements, sondern um seine motivationalen Gründe. Um diese zu klären, werden zwei Begriffe der Hoffnung unterschieden: Hoffnung, die auf etwas Zukünftiges gerichtet ist (material), und der Akt des Hoffens als Weise, in der Welt zu sein (modal). Es wird dafür argumentiert, dass sich der erste Begriff der Hoffnung erst aus dem zweiten ergibt. Der Akt des Hoffens genießt folglich den hermeneutischen Primat vor der Hoffnung, der auf die Zukunft gerichtet ist. Aus dieser Relation zwischen materialer und modaler Hoffnung ergibt sich eine Differenz zwischen altem und neuem, d. h. sich neu verstehendem Menschen. Diese Differenz artikuliert sich in einer produktiven Unzufriedenheit, die die Hoffnung im Glauben stiftet, indem sie diesen ekstatisch werden lässt. Es ist diese auf Hoffnung gegründete Ekstase, welche den Glauben – und die ihn begleitende Theologie – engagiert werden lässt. This paper presents an outline of a theology being socially engaged and dedicated – based on a revisited and profiled concept of hope. It does not deal primarily with the specific orientation that this engagement might take, but with the motives of that very engagement. For that purpose, two notions of hope are to be distinguished: the hope that is future-oriented (hoping that …) and the act of hoping as mode of being in the world (to live in hope). It will be argued that the first notion is derived from the second one. Thus, the act of hoping possesses the hermeneutical privilege over the hope directed to the future. Moreover, from this relation between hoping that … and living in hope the difference is derivable between old and new man, i. e. a person that understands everything in a new light. This difference is articulated in a productive dissatisfaction, which is founded in faith by hope; thereby, hope turns faith into an ecstatic stance. It is this ecstasy endowed by hope that calls faith – and theology as faith’s companion – to be engaged and dedicated. |
