On the one hand is the new determination of her relationship to secular society. And on the other hand there is a greater participation of „the people of God“ in the decision-making processes within the church. Many critics of the church think this is of no consequence if „lay Christians“ are called upon to take on social re-sponsibilities in secular society and to help determine the political destiny of a country but are held back from the right to a corresponding participation in the church. This also goes not least for the dismantling of gender-specific barriers to entering church office. Such demands evoke sympathy from outside the church, but inside the church they often meet a stonewall, for the hi-erarchical constitution of the church sets up narrow boundaries to any reconstruction of struc-tures and processes towards a democratic model. The following reflections move towards the question whether the demand for a broader participation of the „people of God“ in points of issue on questions of faith and morals is made the norm, including the appointment of those who hold office in the church in ways that are unacceptable by secular standards. How far is it possible to adopt the „political“ imperatives of modernity as a standard for what goes on in the church and for a contemporary church practice of the faith? How far does the content and logic of the Gospels support co-determination and co-responsibility in the community of believers, so that the Catholic Church can affirm from within herself what has been brought from outside as a demand? | ||
| 520 | |a Dialoguer avec le monde d’aujourd’hui“ - Ce thème programmatique du Concile Vatican II met l’Église devant un double défi : celui, d’une part, d’une nouvelle définition de ses relations avec la société sécularisée, et celui, d’autre part, d’une plus grande participation du „peuple de Dieu“ dans les processus de décision au sein de l’Église. Pour beaucoup de détracteurs de l’Église, il est sans conséquence que les „chrétiens laïcs“, appelés à prendre des responsabilités sociales dans la société sécularisée, contribuent à déterminer l’avenir politique d’un pays mais n’aient pas droit à une telle participation dans l’Église. Cela vaut, entre autres, pour le démantèlement des barrières du genre pour entrer au service de l’Église. De telles demandes suscitent la sympathie à l’extérieur de l’Église mais se heurtent souvent à un mur au sein de l’Église, car la structure hiérarchique de l’Église impose des frontières étroites à toute reconstruction de structures et de processus tendant à un modèle démocratique. Les réflexions qui suivent se demandent si la demande d’une plus large participation du „peuple de Dieu“ sur des questions de foi et de morale, est considérée comme une norme, incluant la nomination de ceux dont l’exercice des fonctions dans l’Église est inacceptable aux yeux d’un monde sécularisé. Jusqu’où est-il possible d’adopter les exigences „politiques“ de la modernité en tant que critère pour ce qui se passe dans l’Église et pour une pratique de la foi aujourd’hui ? Jusqu’où le contenu et la logique de l’Évangile appuient-ils la co-détermination et la co-responsabilité dans la communauté des croyants , pour que l’Église puisse affirmer de l’intérieur d’elle-même une demande venue de l’extérieur ? | ||
