It is argued that modern interpretations of Koh 1,4 have failed to understand the connection between the two statements »generation goes, generation comes« and »the earth remains forever«. Consequently, the overall structure of the prologue was misunderstood. The article points alternatively to a hitherto unnoticed Medieval Jewish interpretive tradition, which sheds new light on the connection between the succession of generations and the permanence of earth. Accordingly, a fresh reading ofQohelet’s prologue is suggested, which stresses its poetic symmetry and integrity. | ||

On constate que l’interprétation récente n’y a pas reconnu la relation entre les deux propositions: »Une génération s’en va, une génération vient« et »la terre subsiste toujours«. De ce fait, toute la structure du prologue est mal comprise. L’étude renvoie à une tradition juive médiévale, méconnue jusqu’ici, qui jette une lumière nouvelle sur la connexion entre ces deux thèmes. Es sei den modernen Interpretationen von Koh 1,4 nicht gelungen, die Verbindung zwischen den beiden Feststellungen »eine Generation geht, eine Generation kommt« und »die Erde besteht auf ewig« zu verstehen. Infolgedessen wurde die Struktur des ganzen Prologs missverstanden. Dem wird eine bisher nicht beachtetete mittelalterliche jüdische Auslegungstradition gegenübergestellt, die neues Licht auf die Verbindung zwischen der Abfolge der Generationen und der Dauerhaftigkeit der Erde wirft. Dementsprechend wird eine neue Lesung des Kohelet-Prologsvorgeschlagen, die dessen poetische Symmetrie und literarische Integrität unterstreicht. | ||
