Description
Summary:While Luther was hidden on the Wartburg castle he was an extremely prolific writer. One of his works of this time was the Wartburgpostille, a handbook for preachers. lt is this pastille, in which we find him identifying his one times as eschatological ones, caused by his conviction that the pope were the Antichrist. Against this background, he had to interpret the synoptic apocalypse as a prophecy for his times. With this, he comes into a special hermeneutical situation: the times of the New testament and of his own meld and produce a promulgation for the present. In terms of intellectual history, we can see in this a transformation of the medieval fourfold sense of scripture, centered in a mystical announcement of the birth of Christ in the soul of the believer.
