Description
Summary:The promulgation of CCEO was a landmark in the growth of the Eastern Catholic Churches. The code translated into concrete action the vision and statements of the Second Vatican Council concerning the life and mission of the Eastern Catholic Churches was clearly articulated by the CCEO. As far as the Major Archiepiscopal Churches are concerned the code clearly articulated their status and functioning in the Church. This work is a historico-juridical study on the developement of Major Archiepiscopal Churches in the Church and in canonical literature. Its scope is to explore the origin and growth of this juridical institution in the light of the canonical provision of CCEO. This work will clearly be an inspiration for many to explore new avenues of research on the development of the hierarchical structure of the Oriental Churches.
