678 | |b Jason Keith Fernandes is a researcher at the Centre for Research in Anthropology, ISCTE–Lisbon University Institute, Lisbon, Portugal. He was recently awarded a doctorate in anthropology for a dissertation on The Citizenship Experiences of Goan Catholics. His current research project Crafting Good Citizens: The Politics of Crafting Indian Citizens from Catholics in Goa will explore the manner in which two historical moments in the 1960s, the outcome of the Vatican Council II and the integration of Goa into the Indian Union have impacted on the practices of Catholicism in Goa. Both these works seek to explore the dynamics of citizenship experiences of minoritized groups in the Indian state. In addition to interests in politics in the margins of the subcontinent, he is also interested in articulating a postcolonial theory that is cognizant of the experiences outside of Anglophone and Northern European worlds. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the Instituto Univeritário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), Lisbon, Portugal, a Diploma in Cultural Studies from the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society (CSCS), Bangalore, India, an International Master in Sociology of Law from International Institute for the Sociology of Law (IISJ), Oñati, Spain and a Bachelor from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, India. | ||
